My Beautiful Creation!!

Yes this is what boredom does to us fashionistas. Maxi dresses are so on trend for this summer...in fact the whole floor length skirt, dress or jumpsuit. I had to have one but they are either too long, too samey, or too expensive on the high street; and this beauty of mine cost just under £30 to create. The fabric was even in the sale at the end of roll in Bournemouth's very own fabric land...BARGAIN! I feel well and truly inspired.

The fashion show theatre is always breathtaking. I sit there and hope that one day I will be doing the same as all of the other young talents whose beautiful collections grace the catwalk. When I attend this show I suddenly feel very proud of the british talent, as lets face most of the worlds best designers are either dead or from another part of the world. Some collections are just fantastic and potential purchases, and then there is the wacky creations from those not so wearable collections.

it has been a while.

So fair enough it has been a long time since my last blogging session but I have experienced alot in the past couple of months;

First major and worrying event is my lack of work experience so far. I am extremely gutted about the change of plan with Warehouse, however I am still in contact with the lady in charge there and shall email her again soon; so fingers crossed for early September. Fortunately I was offered another experience of a life time with French Connection, but unfortunately I had to give this one a miss also. The same with Warehouse I am still in contact and hope I will be able to arrange something for a later date....Fingers crossed!!

Number two, my sheer disappointment over missing the end of year show at uni. Not only was my work in the show and I was unlucky not to see my garments on the model, but on top of that I was unable to help out back stage where I here it was all going on. A lightening bolt couldn't stop me from attending next years show!

Finally on a more positive note, I gratefully received platinum passes to the Clothes Show London. Its now the second London event I have been to but its around the 7th Clothes Show for me so far; and my god was it amazing.

Toile Review.

I am so pleased with the way my very first Toile Review turned out. I think it went really well, as received very helpful and constructive criticism. With the points raised I will be able to move forward with my project and successfully produce my ideas.

I have now officially decided on the colour palette; it will consist of grey, white and black-so more tonal really. The way my final garment will be interesting is because there will be a wide range of prints. These will consist of plain, stripes and checks in different sizes and widths. All the fabrics I am going to use have been purchased from charity shops, have been donated to me or once belonged to me.
The blogging experience is now drawing to a close for my first year of University, and I have to admit I'm not the biggest fan. I however, have given it a go and will continue to do so; when I find some new and exciting things to blog about.

Tokyo Presentation.

Our presentation went really well for me and I did actually enjoy doing it. It was nice to support others in their presentations too and I feel I learnt a lot from others. I do believe that the best way to learn is to teach! It was good to feedback to one another, and the criticism proved to be constructive and i will use the advice for further projects.

Junya Tashiro was the Japanese designer in my presentation that caught my eye the most out of the seven that I researched. This was taken from her S/S 2008 collection at Japan Fashion Week. I see these pieces as more traditional yet elegant. Some Japanese designers have work that is too outrageous and Couture so Junya Tashiro displays a more RTW collection.
