Tokyo Presentation.

Our presentation went really well for me and I did actually enjoy doing it. It was nice to support others in their presentations too and I feel I learnt a lot from others. I do believe that the best way to learn is to teach! It was good to feedback to one another, and the criticism proved to be constructive and i will use the advice for further projects.

Junya Tashiro was the Japanese designer in my presentation that caught my eye the most out of the seven that I researched. This was taken from her S/S 2008 collection at Japan Fashion Week. I see these pieces as more traditional yet elegant. Some Japanese designers have work that is too outrageous and Couture so Junya Tashiro displays a more RTW collection.

The September Issue!!!

I rented this from our uni library, and it was very enjoyable. I strongly recommend watching this documentary, as it will really open your eyes to the real FASHION WORLD!! It is very realistic as it stars Anna Wintour and her journey through the Vogue Calender. 'The September Issue' was inspiring and intereseting and was the real 'Devil Wears Prada'. This film should be the reason we enter the FASHION WORLD. I loved it!

http://www.junkystyling.co.uk/

I strongly recommend this website to anyone interested in recyclable fashion and something a bit quirky!

Also over christmas I was able to purchase the book on Junky Styling and it is wicked...it contains working drawings and ways of collecting old recycled fabrics and clothes and the interesting new pieces one can create.

My Favourite Accomplishment So Far......

I am so thrilled with my achievements today! The trainer at the top are the ones I am wearing right now and i added a very similar print as to the print on my trainer. It is really exciting to see my ideas translated of colour and pattern in illustrator as it is simple to do. I feel as though I am finally getting to grips with this 'I.T' business....about time!!

This is from several weeks ago during a pattern cutting session. Unfortunately I got ill and got behind with the whole blogging thingy!!
I really enjoyed this lesson and actually found it quite easy; modelling on the stand was something I briefly touched on at A-level so it was good to recap it and complete this more acurately.

The only problem i found with regards to modelling was that i tended to complete each small process before everybody else, this meant I got bored waiting for others to catch up. However, I do understand that other people may not have done anything like this before so i need to be considerate.

I made a small mistake during this session, whereby i cut into the fabric to far at the neck and at the underarm so i had to get another piece of fabric....maybe i rushed through it a little!

Communications in Black and White!

Hannah Bingham and I teamed up on Monday's design session to create this masterpiece. However my camera decided to die on me so there should be some more photos to follow from Hannah! I had so much fun completing this task, I jumped straight and began designing using black and paper onto the stand. Overall I was very happy with finished outcome; this is my kind of activity/task!! :-)
